We interviewed Julie Becker, CEO of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE), to find out what resulted in the exchange winning “Exchange of the Year” for the 7th time since 2017 at Environmental Finance’s Sustainable Debt Awards. 

Julie Becker joined LuxSE in 2013 and was appointed CEO in 2021. Widely recognised as an innovative sustainable finance expert, she was instrumental in the creation of the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) in 2016, LuxSE's world leading platform dedicated to sustainable finance.

Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX), Luxembourg Stock Exchange’s platform for sustainable finance, has surpassed the EUR 1 trillion mark in listed sustainable securities. LGX, launched in 2016, serves as a platform for sustainable securities, providing issuers with a space to list green, social, and sustainability bonds.

Geneva- Released today, the SSE 2014 Report on Progress (pdf) frames the discussion of the SSE 2014 Global Dialogue. A review of sustainability initiatives at 55 exchanges found substantial progress, engagement, and a set of emerging best practices among exchanges regarding promotion of sustainability reporting and sustainable business practices more generally.

Istanbul - The launch of the Index comes after many months of preparation including a joint workshop held with the SSE in January 2014. Borsa Istanbul is one of the five founding Partner Exchanges of the SSE initiative. The CEO of Borsa Istanbul recently spoke about the new Sustainability Index at the SSE 2014 Global Dialogue, held in Geneva 14 October.

Bogotà - Latin America’s four largest stock exchanges gathered in Colombia for the first Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Regional Dialogue: LatAm & Caribbean.  The regional version of the flagship SSE Global Dialogue was facilitated by the SSE, hosted by the Colombian Securities Exchange (BVC), and sponsored by the Latin American Sustainable Investment Forum (LatinSIF).

Nairobi- Mr. Geoffrey Odundo, the CEO of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, an SSE Partner Exchange, met with investment experts in Nairobi to prioritize green growth in investments and reshape the investment landscape at the first Regional Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) Africa Conference. The event was co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Denmark and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
