SSE Launches toolkit for exchanges to help guide markets on the new IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards

 (16 January 2024) In response to demand from SSE Partner Exchanges for support on the new sustainability disclosure standards recently launched by the IFRS Foundation, the SSE and its partners developed a toolkit to help exchanges and market participants. This toolkit includes a new Model Guidance that has been reviewed by the IFRS International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). 

Exchange in Focus: Panama exchange leads declaration to develop national sustainable financing roadmap

Panama’s stock exchange (BVP), an SSE Partner Exchange, announced the creation of a working group on sustainable finance formed by the main financial sector actors in Panama, including the stock exchange, regulators, the ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Environment, insurers, investors and financial intermediaries. The objective of the group is to work collaboratively to address environmental, social and governance issues within the various activities of the Panamanian financial system.

United Nations and World Federation of Exchanges hold joint Advisory Group Meeting

(6 May 2019, Geneva, Switzerland) The United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative hosted a day-long roundtable meeting of the joint SSE and World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) Advisory Group to evaluate how stock exchanges can embed sustainability into business operations. The meeting, which took place at the UN Headquarters in Geneva, brought together stock exchange and investor representatives in order to review the zero draft of a new guidance being developed by the SSE and WFE.

Embedding sustainability into stock exchange operations, UN and industry publish joint report

Geneva, Tuesday 24 September 2019 – The United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative today launches a new guidance for exchanges prepared in collaboration with the the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), the global industry group for exchanges. The joint report provides guidance on ‘How exchanges can embed sustainability within their operations: a blueprint to advance action’.

A More Sustainable Future for the UN SSE

(26 September 2019) Since its founding ten years ago, the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative (SSE) has grown to 90 exchanges, listing 50 thousand companies valued at over 86 trillion USD, and it is still growing. This illustrates that participating in a conversation on environmental, social and governance factors has become a necessary part of the investor-exchange-issuer dialogue.
