(26 September 2019) In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative gathered high level capital market stakeholders and SSE partners alongside the UN General Assembly meetings and Climate Action Summit.

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and SSE hosted a webinar on the importance of corporate disclosure and transparency to help companies in Asia Pacific attract financing and boost their resilience amid challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In July 2020, the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative launched a new workstream to support exchanges in providing guidance to their market on climate disclosure. Now, the SSE has invited its Climate Disclosure Advisory Group to comment on the Zero Draft, the first iteration of a new draft guidance. 

In light of the upcoming publication of the UN SSE model guidance on climate disclosure and the practical action plan on the 29th of June, the SSE is ramping up its efforts to provide climate disclosure training to exchanges' markets to help them implement the actions suggested in the model guidance and the action plan. 

This week, governments, private sector organizations and civil society are once again coming together for the 27th annual United Nations Conference of the Parties on climate change (COP27).

As part of the UN SSE’s COP27 activities in Sharm al Sheik, Egypt, SSE Academy Head Tiffany Grabski participated in a panel discussion on developing “A Global Comprehensive Reporting System.” Bringing together representatives of the private sector, standard setters and stock exchanges, Ms. Grabski highlighted the key role that capacity building plays in advancing this work. 

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) this week launched two inaugural sustainability disclosure standards to meet the information needs of capital market participants, one focused on general disclosure requirements and one focused on climate-related disclosures. Stock exchanges are holding launch events around the world to introduce their markets to these new standards.

17 October 2023, Abu Dhabi, UAE - Bursa Malaysia, the Indonesian Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Thailand announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (UN SSE) flagship event, the SSE Global Dialogue, held every two years as part of the UNCTAD World Investment Forum.
