SSE supports launch of BIVA’s class for Chief Sustainability Officers

22 September 2022

The UN SSE initiative was invited to provide opening remarks to launch the second class of Mexican stock exchange BIVA’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) Accelerator Program, BIVA 360° Sustainable Program. The program looks to equip issuers and potential issuers with CSOs to lead the ESG corporate transition.  “One of the greatest challenges we have in the stock market is the lack of talent trained in corporate sustainability. This is why we designed the CSO Accelerator Program. The objective is to address the important need for experts to specialize in ESG, within public companies and private companies that seek to list in the capital markets,” said BIVA.  “We congratulate BIVA for their leadership and innovation to meet the demands of their market pertaining to sustainability” said Tiffany Grabski, Academy head for the UN SSE at the inauguration event.  The exchange launched on 22 September its second generation of this training session, building on the first class which took place between April and June. The first session included 38 participants from 11 different industries.

About the SSE

The SSE initiative is a UN Partnership Programme organised by UNCTAD, the UN Global Compact, UNEP FI and the PRI. The SSE’s mission is to provide a global platform for exploring how exchanges, in collaboration with investors, companies (issuers), regulators, policymakers and relevant international organizations, can enhance performance on ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) issues and encourage sustainable investment, including the financing of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The SSE seeks to achieve this mission through an integrated programme of conducting evidence-based policy analysis, facilitating a network and forum for multi-stakeholder consensus-building, and providing technical assistance and advisory services.
