Exchange in Focus: First “Ring the Bell for Responsible Investment” at Santiago Exchange

(21 June 2019) The Santiago Exchange and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) celebrated the first Ring the Bell for Responsible Investment, getting together local institutional investors to promote and encourage responsible investment at the Chilean Capital Markets. Led by the Chairman of the Santiago Exchange, Juan Andrés Camus, the ceremony was attended by the Chilean Minister of Finance, Felipe Larraín, and by PRI’s CEO, Fiona Reynolds, who announced PRI’s first Chilean signatories: AFP Cuprum, Banchile AGF, BICE Inversiones, Governart, Larraín Vial Asset Management and Moneda Asset Management.

The Santiago Exchange and a group of institutional investment firms issued a joint statement confirming their commitment to incorporate environment, social and corporate governance (ESG) in their investment decisions, as a way to ensure responsible investment on behalf of their final investors.

The statement was signed by:

  • Pension Fund Managers (AFP): AFP Capital, and AFP Cuprum,
  • Asset Managers (AGF): Banchile AGF, BTG Pactual Chile S.A. AGF, Compass Group Chile S.A. AGF, Itaú, Larraín Vial Asset Management, Moneda Asset Management, Principal AGF and Santander Asset Management.

New Sustainable Branding

The Santiago Exchange also announced in June a new brand that reinforces its corporate business value, as a technological, innovative, transparent, reliable and sustainable company.  The new branding also coincided with the launch of a new website www.bolsadesantiago.com, which includes more information on ESG of the market participants through the Sustainability and Innovation section of the website, and creating a new sections on Corporate Governance and Investor Relations. In addition, a section for Financial Education was released.
