Nasdaq Fireside Chat with UN SSE on Carbon Markets & Net Zero

(29 May 2024, Barcelona) Nasdaq hosted a Fireside Chat with UN SSE Chief Coordinator Anthony Miller and WFE CEO Nandini Sukumar on the topic of Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs) and the Net Zero efforts of exchanges. Moderated by Roland Chai, the President of European Market Services for Nasdaq​, the session explored the growing interest among exchanges and other financial market infrastructure companies in VCMs and the broader Net Zero movement.

We interviewed Julie Becker, CEO of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE), to find out what resulted in the exchange winning “Exchange of the Year” for the 7th time since 2017 at Environmental Finance’s Sustainable Debt Awards. 

Julie Becker joined LuxSE in 2013 and was appointed CEO in 2021. Widely recognised as an innovative sustainable finance expert, she was instrumental in the creation of the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) in 2016, LuxSE's world leading platform dedicated to sustainable finance.

SSE Launches toolkit for exchanges to help guide markets on the new IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards

 (16 January 2024) In response to demand from SSE Partner Exchanges for support on the new sustainability disclosure standards recently launched by the IFRS Foundation, the SSE and its partners developed a toolkit to help exchanges and market participants. This toolkit includes a new Model Guidance that has been reviewed by the IFRS International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

Santiago - Sarah Bostwick of the United Nations Global Compact, a co-organizer of the SSE, emphasized in her remarks that the very existence of the SSE is a positive indicator of the progress stock exchanges around the world are making to promote corporate sustainability in their markets.
