Date: 13 November 2026, COP31 Finance and Trade Day
Time: 14:00-15:00 local time
Location: Arab Climate Pavilion, Blue Zone, COP31, Antalya, Türkiye

Format: In-person, 60-minute facilitated roundtable
About the event
The UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative and S&P Global Energy will convene a Carbon Currents Roundtable at COP31 hosted by GORD to explore how demand for high-integrity carbon credits can translate into reliable transactions.
Building on their knowledge partnership and Carbon Currents roundtables, the session will bring together buyers, exchanges, crediting programmes, registry operators and host-country representatives. Discussions will examine the connections between Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, aviation demand under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), and the infrastructure supporting carbon-market transactions.
The roundtable will focus on strengthening buyer confidence, including how credit eligibility, host-country authorization, corresponding adjustments and registry tracking affect the procurement, delivery and use of credits. Participants will explore how transparent pricing, clear contract specifications and exchange services can support transactions, while recognizing the distinct requirements of different markets and programmes.
Through brief scene-setting remarks and a facilitated discussion, participants will identify practical barriers and priorities for cooperation, with particular attention to the Arab region and other emerging markets. Engagement with the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), Global Carbon Council (GCC) and Climate Action Center of Excellence (CACE) is proposed, subject to agreement.
