In the context of the UN SSE initiative’s 10 year milestone, it has published a paper: SSE initiative – 10 Years of Impact and Progress. In 10 years, the SSE has grown to 90 exchanges, listing 50,000 companies valued at 86 trillion USD, and it is still growing. This illustrates that participating in a conversation on environmental, social and governance factors has become a necessary part of the investor-exchange-issuer dialogue. The paper is available on the SSE website here.
The SSE initiative celebrated its 10 year anniversary in New York on 26 September 2019, alongside the UN General Assembly gathering and Climate Action Summit.

About the SSE
The SSE initiative is a UN Partnership Programme organised by UNCTAD, the UN Global Compact, UNEP FI and the PRI. The SSE’s mission is to provide a global platform for exploring how exchanges, in collaboration with investors, companies (issuers), regulators, policymakers and relevant international organizations, can enhance performance on ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) issues and encourage sustainable investment, including the financing of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The SSE seeks to achieve this mission through an integrated programme of conducting evidence-based policy analysis, facilitating a network and forum for multi-stakeholder consensus-building, and providing technical assistance and advisory services.
