About the event
Meeting climate goals depends on capital markets that can price climate risk, allocate capital to the transition and hold companies to credible disclosure. This requires issuers, investors, board members, regulators and intermediaries with the skills to apply new standards and make informed decisions.
Held on COP31 Education Day, this session will explore how stock exchanges are advancing climate education at scale. Through the SSE Academy, the UN SSE works with exchanges and partners to train thousands of market participants each year, largely in emerging markets. Its ISSB training programme, delivered with the IFRS Foundation and IFC, has reached more than 40,000 participants from over 130 countries. GORD Academy brings a complementary regional perspective, having trained more than 10,000 professionals across Qatar, the GCC and beyond in ESG, greenhouse gas accounting and climate reporting.
Bringing together representatives from exchanges, standard setters, and research and education institutes, the discussion will examine what works in market education, where gaps remain, and how training can translate climate commitments into practical action. Participants will explore how education can keep pace with evolving disclosure standards, reflect local market needs and strengthen cooperation to reach more markets, particularly in emerging economies.
