The UN Global Compact, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), and United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI) are organizing the UN SDG Private Financing Retreat, which will take place on January 27 from 9:30-17:00 and January 28 from 9:00-12:00 in Geneva, hosted by the UN SSE at the Palais des Nations. 

An invitation-only event, the UN SDG Private Finance Retreat is a platform for UN entities to strengthen relationships, foster more cohesive engagement of private-sector financing players, and enhance the UN's capacity to effectively mobilize private-sector financing in support of the SDG's. 

Objectives of the Retreat include: 

  • Align to Scale Private Capital: Clarify and strengthen alignment by mapping missions and stakeholders to foster mutual understanding and collaboration among UN entities, articulating organizational goals, and fostering reflection on strategies and contributions to mobilize private-sector finance.

  • Advance Strategic Collaboration: Explore practical frameworks for cross-organizational collaboration, enhance understanding of UN private finance stakeholder engagement, and initiate data-sharing practices. Activate strategic collaboration on the One-UN Narrative, EOSG Sustainable Finance Roadmap, and data partnerships. 

  • Foster Collective Accountability: Cultivate deeper relationships between UN entities by emphasizing shared accountability and encouraging both professional and personal collaboration at the working level. This will facilitate the development of more effective partnerships, enhancing the impact of future joint efforts.
