Guiding Markets on Nature
Nature is the foundation of the global economy and yet we are operating outside six of nine planetary boundaries. The acceleration of nature loss undermines the resilience of business everywhere, posing material risks to companies and investors. Nevertheless, most companies today have a poor understanding of the full scope of their dependencies on nature and the corresponding risks to their organisation. There are also tremendous opportunities ahead for business and finance in the necessary transition to a net-zero, nature-positive future.
Sitting at the intersection of companies, investors and regulators, stock exchanges have a key role to play in shaping market behaviour and deploying capital for a more sustainable future. Equipped with the right resources, exchanges can prepare their markets by providing training, guidance and toolkits for companies and investors to understand and integrate nature-related considerations beyond climate change into their operations and investment strategies.
Launch of the SSE's Nature Guidance
At “Building Bridges: Aligning Finance with Sustainability” the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative will release “Model Guidance on Nature-related Financial Disclosures,” providing a practical starting point for exchanges to support issuers in identifying, assessing and disclosing nature-related issues. The release of this guidance is timely given the significant increase in regulator, investor and standard setter interest in nature-related corporate reporting.
This panel discussion, which will be livestreamed from Building Bridges in Geneva, will introduce the core aims of the guide and outline how stock exchanges and market participants.
Further speaker details to be announced.
