During New York Climate Week, CME Group will host a closed-door Carbon Currents Roundtable in partnership with S&P Global Energy and the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative.

This invite-only discussion will bring together corporate buyers, exchanges, financial institutions, international organizations and other strategic market participants to explore how organizations are managing carbon market risk and building resilient carbon credit portfolios for 2030.

As companies move from ambition to execution on climate commitments, carbon buyers face increasingly complex decisions around procurement strategy, portfolio construction, quality assurance, governance, delivery risk and price exposure. The roundtable will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange perspectives on emerging challenges and practical approaches to managing risk in evolving carbon markets.

Discussion topics will include:

• How corporate buyers are approaching their 2030 carbon credit requirements and procurement strategies
• Balancing long-term offtakes and spot purchases, and managing certainty versus flexibility
• The role of ratings, labels and portfolio construction in navigating a fragmented market
• Governance, quality and delivery risks across carbon markets
• Risk management approaches, including benchmarks, reference pricing, exchange-traded contracts and evolving commercial structures

The session will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule to encourage an open and candid exchange of views.
