To mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026, the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (UN SSE) initiative partnered with Nasdaq to spotlight gender equality across global capital markets through a video displayed on Nasdaq’s iconic Times Square tower.

The video reinforces the critical role that stock exchanges, investors and listed companies play in advancing gender equality and promoting inclusive economic growth.

This year’s initiative also recognizes the creative contribution of the graphic design team from Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, Tennessee. The project was overseen by Professor Melinda Posey and brought to life by student designers Santiago Haro and Amber Landry.

Building on the 2025 collaboration, which showcased student-designed visuals supporting the IWD theme “Accelerate Action,” the initiative continues to use global platforms to amplify the message that gender equality remains a priority for capital markets worldwide.

The display forms part of the broader “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” campaign, which brings together stock exchanges around the world each March to promote women’s economic empowerment and leadership.

While progress has been made, challenges remain. The UN SSE initiative encourages market participants to take further action by:

  • enhancing gender-related disclosures

  • increasing women’s representation in leadership

  • aligning capital allocation with inclusive business practices

As the global community marks International Women’s Day, the UN SSE initiative calls on capital markets to sustain momentum and continue advancing gender equality throughout the year.
