In celebration of International Women's Day (IWD) 2025, the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (UN SSE) initiative has once again partnered with Nasdaq to raise awareness about gender equality through a dynamic visual campaign. This year’s initiative builds upon the momentum of the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality events, which have been taking place throughout March at stock exchanges worldwide.
Aligning with the IWD 2025 theme, "Accelerate Action," the initiative highlights the urgency of achieving gender equality. As part of this effort, students from Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, Tennessee, have designed an animated visual that will be displayed on Nasdaq’s iconic Times Square tower. Their work reflects the global call to action for women’s empowerment and equal opportunities in the workplace and beyond.
The Ring the Bell for Gender Equality campaign, now in its 11th year, has seen over 115 exchanges host bell-ringing ceremonies to champion women’s economic empowerment and leadership. This year, as the campaign concludes, the collaboration with graphic design students serves as a powerful visual finale, reinforcing the commitment of financial markets to gender-inclusive growth.
Dr. Anthony Miller, Chief Coordinator of the UN SSE, shared his appreciation for the students' contributions: "The talented students of Christian Brothers University, guided by the exceptional leadership of Prof. Melinda Posey, have done an amazing job once more in creating impactful graphics for International Women’s Day. Their creativity and dedication bring an important message of gender equality to a global stage through the Nasdaq Times Square Board. The UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative is proud to work with such passionate young designers, whose work shows how powerful visual storytelling can be in shaping a more equal world for men and women. We appreciate their efforts and look forward to continuing this meaningful collaboration in the future."
By linking the creative efforts of young designers to the Ring the Bell initiative, this campaign underscores the interconnected role of financial markets, education, and visual storytelling in driving social change. As the final bell-ringing events conclude, the Nasdaq display serves as a call to sustain the momentum beyond IWD, ensuring that gender equality remains at the forefront of global business priorities.
