Southeast Asian exchanges announce MOU on sustainable finance at SSE Global Dialogue

17 October 2023, Abu Dhabi, UAE - Bursa Malaysia, the Indonesian Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Thailand announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (UN SSE) flagship event, the SSE Global Dialogue, held every two years as part of the UNCTAD World Investment Forum. The exchanges jointly launched a new Central Sustainability Intelligence (CSI) platform. This agreement demonstrates a commitment to enhancing cross-border collaboration, sharing best practices, and working towards the mutual goal of developing sustainable capital markets in the ASEAN region. 

The partnership between the three exchanges aims to facilitate the flow of sustainable investment, promote transparency, and catalyze the growth of green and social finance initiatives in the region. Announcing the MOU were Muhamad Umar Swift, CEO, Bursa Malaysia; Iman Rachman, CEO, Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX); Soraphol Tulayasathien, Head of Corporate Strategy and Sustainable Development, Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). 

The UN SSE celebrates such official collaborations between exchanges as it enhances the promotion of sustainable finance in the region. The UN SSE will continue supporting the efforts of Bursa Malaysia, the Indonesian Stock Exchange, and the Stock Exchange of Thailand in this field and looks forward to pursuing its collective work on the base of the Memorandum of Understanding.
