The United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative is proud to announce the return of the global “Ring the Bell for LGBTIQ+ Equality” campaign, organised in collaboration with its global partners UN Global Compact, UN Human Rights (OHCHR), Koppa - The LGBTI+ Economic Power Lab and Open for Business.
On behalf of the coalition of global partners, Mr Anthony Miller, Chief Coordinator of the UN SSE announced the return of the campaign for 2026 alongside colleagues from UNGC, OHCRD and Open for Business in Geneva at the Business and Human Rights Forum.
Building on the success of the inaugural 2025 edition — which saw 15 stock exchanges host bell-ringing ceremonies across the world — the second annual event will take place in May and June 2026, coinciding with the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (17 May) as well as Pride month, in relevant countries.
The “Ring the Bell for LGBTIQ+ Equality” initiative brings together stock exchanges, listed companies, investors, policymakers, and LGBTIQ+ organizations to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion and equality in global markets and workplaces. Exchanges are invited once again to host in-person or virtual bell-ringing ceremonies to demonstrate their commitment to advancing visibility and equal rights for LGBTIQ+ people.
The campaign underscores the crucial role of the private sector and financial markets in driving equality and inclusion. It also reaffirms the United Nations’ commitment — led by Secretary-General António Guterres — to end discrimination, violence, and harmful practices against LGBTIQ+ people worldwide.
“Ring the Bell for LGBTIQ+ Equality” complements the long-running “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” initiative, which now counts more than 110 participating exchanges globally. Together, these efforts highlight the power of the world’s capital markets to champion human rights and foster sustainable, inclusive growth.
By joining the 2026 campaign, exchanges will stand with global partners in amplifying the call for diversity, respect, and equal opportunity — helping to create a financial system and business environment where everyone can thrive.
