Exchange in Focus: RepRisk interviews Cesar Sanches, Head of Sustainability at B3

18 April 2023

In April 2023, Cesar Sanches, Head of Sustainability at B3 was interviewed by RepRisk. The talking points were Cesar Sanches’ work at B3, the role of RepRisk in the new methodology of the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE B3), and B3’s position in the Latin American Market in the sustainable field. The interview highlighted the importance of using independent data providers such as RepRisk for ESG reputational risk assessment and to meet investors’ demands for a more consistent and transparent methodology. With its vast amounts of public sources and stakeholders and the number of private and public companies covered, RepRisk allowed B3 to build a more robust and transparent methodology for the ISE B3. Since its creation in 2005, ISE B3 has played a vital role in supporting companies on their ESG journey. It can also be used as a guide since there is a correlation with global standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), or B Corp. Cesar Sanches concluded: “Information is a very important asset in many industries. This is also true for the world of ESG. The ability to process information that can help identify socio-environmental risks and opportunities is crucial. To unlock the full potential of unstructured information, continuous advancements in machine learning and natural language processing are essential. Another potential opportunity in this space is climate-change related products.”  The SSE initiative congratulates B3 for its continuous commitment to promoting sustainability in its market. Indices like ISE B3 are essential to provide more transparency in ESG investing and in shifting investing practices. ESG disclosure is an important workstream for the SSE initiative, more information here. Read the full interview here.
