Climate Disclosure Guidance Advisory Committee reviews Zero Draft, holds webinar

15 October 2020

In July 2020, the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative launched a new workstream to support exchanges in providing guidance to their market on climate disclosure. Now, the SSE has invited its Climate Disclosure Advisory Group to comment on the Zero Draft, the first iteration of a new draft guidance.  The project takes place under the auspices of Mr. Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy on Climate and Finance, and is Co-Chaired by the CEOs of London Stock Exchange and Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Accordingly, the initial draft has been developed by the SSE Secretariate with inputs from the Co-chairs for consideration by the entire Advisory Group. In order to further discuss the future direction of travel for its guidance, the SSE will host a Webinar on 21 October 2020 (9:00 & 16:00 Geneva time), during which Mr. Carney and the project’s Co-Chairs will address the Advisory Group with a special welcome message. The webinar will walk the Advisory Group through the Zero Draft and hear feedback, comments and suggestions. By inviting the members of the workstream’s Advisory Group to review the document and submit comments, the project has reached its first vital stage. Written comments on the Zero Draft can be submitted until 30 October 2020. Following this initial draft, there will be two more drafts submitted to the Advisory Group for comment before finalization in June 2021. About the SSE

The SSE initiative is a UN Partnership Programme organised by UNCTAD, the UN Global Compact, UNEP FI and the PRI. The SSE’s mission is to provide a global platform for exploring how exchanges, in collaboration with investors, companies (issuers), regulators, policymakers and relevant international organizations, can enhance performance on ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) issues and encourage sustainable investment, including the financing of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The SSE seeks to achieve this mission through an integrated programme of conducting evidence-based policy analysis, facilitating a network and forum for multi-stakeholder consensus-building, and providing technical assistance and advisory services.
